PhD Researcher

Öznur Uğuz is a PhD researcher at Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna and a qualified lawyer registered with the Istanbul Bar Association. She holds a Master of Science in European Economy and Business Law from the University of Rome Tor Vergata, a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Istanbul University, and a Graduate Diploma in Law from The University of Law UK.

In addition to her doctoral research, Öznur is working on various aspects of AI policy and regulation from an EU law perspective, including the legal challenges and regulation of the use of predictive AI systems in administrative decision-making and emotional AI surveillance.

A Data-Driven Approach to European Twin Transition: How Data Regulation Can Reinforce the European Union’s Successful Green and Digital Transitions?

Summary

Öznur’s PhD research explores the EU’s digital and green transitions from a data regulation perspective and discusses how the power of data can be leveraged as a catalyst for European twin transition by means of an innovative and environmentally conscious data strategy and a mutually-reinforcing legislative framework.
