Oscar Josafat Leyva Ferzuli

PhD Researcher

Oscar Josafat Leyva Ferzuli is a PhD researcher at the School of Law and Government, Dublin City University, working under the supervision of Dr Edoardo Celeste and Dr Kenneth McDonagh. His research focuses on AI regulation, digital sovereignty, and the future of EU defence strategy.

Oscar is currently completing the European Master in Law, Data and Artificial Intelligence. He holds an LLB from the National Autonomous University of Mexico, and his academic interests lie at the intersection of digital law and the governance of emerging technologies.

He has previously worked as a legal research intern at the DCU Law and Tech Research Cluster, where he explored the impact of EU digital regulation on digital sovereignty. His work included a comparative analysis of the implementation of the GDPR in Italy, Ireland, and Portugal.
