PhD Researcher

Mustapha Jid is a PhD candidate at Télécom Paris (Institut Polytechnique de Paris), working within the ICMS Chair (Intelligent Cybersecurity in Mobility Systems). His research focuses on the intersection of EU data governance, privacy law, cybersecurity, and privacy-enhancing technologies (PETs) in smart mobility systems.

He is an Erasmus Mundus graduate of the European Master in Law, Data and Artificial Intelligence (EMILDAI), and previously worked at the ADAPT Research Centre (Trinity College Dublin) on transforming the EU AI Act into a machine-interpretable knowledge graph using NLP and machine learning techniques. His background combines law, data analytics, and machine learning.

Balancing Data Sharing, Privacy, and Cybersecurity in Smart Mobility Systems

Summary

The research examines how EU legal frameworks, including the GDPR, Data Act, Data Governance Act, and NIS2, interact with technical architectures in connected mobility ecosystems. It analyzes how privacy enhancing technologies such as homomorphic encryption, secure multiparty computation, differential privacy, and confidential computing can operationalize the principle of privacy by design, while also assessing cybersecurity architectures and threat models across in vehicle systems, V2X communications, and cloud infrastructures.

The objective is to identify legal and technical misalignments and develop interdisciplinary solutions that enable lawful data sharing while ensuring privacy protection, cybersecurity robustness, and systemic resilience in smart mobility infrastructures.
